executive bio:
L. Ray Thompson - Chief Executive Officer

Ray Thompson's career path has given him a unique advantage in the business of asset management.  Having worked seventeen years for one of America's ten largest industrial corporations combined with twenty-two years in the investment recovery business puts him in the position of having the ability to evaluate recovery processes from both the corporate and surplus equipment industry perspective.

Ray began his career at Chrysler Corporation in 1972 after graduating from Oakland University working in engineering.  In 1976 he was promoted to Corporate Purchasing where he was responsible for advertising, marketing and public relation buying activities.  In 1984 he served as Corporate Sales Agent for surplus assets for the company's 27 plants and 17 parts depots.  In 1987, he served on the transition  team that integrated American Motors Corporation into Chrysler and the subsequent deactivation and sales of 10 American Motors plants.

In the 1990's he became Executive Vice President of a premier industrial auction company responsible for the liquidation of high profile projects as Pan Am Airways (1992) and Schwinn Bicycle.  He was also the architect of the first corporate asset management program ever written that won the company contracts with General Motors, Delphi, Cooper Industries and Armstrong World Industries.

In 1998, anticipating the outsourcing of non core competencies to suppliers, he created The Thompson Group to serve corporations as their surplus asset management team.
